In 2003 we finished the work on the patio around the fire pit.  We added the steps on the north and south sides, and edged the back side of the garden behind the retaining wall to give it a more finished look.

We also did more work on the horseshoe pits.  Bruce raised the south side up about a foot bit more creating what we now call "horseshoe hill". 

We still had the old pond and we hadn't cut down the maple trees in the middle of the yard so things were still pretty shady.
